Every year in December, our friends at Code.org run Hour of Code, a worldwide effort to introduce millions of students to coding. We're excited to offer multiple ways that you and your children can participate here on Khan Academy, all for free!
What is the Hour of Code?
The Hour of Code is an hour-long introduction to computer programming designed to show students that everyone can learn the basics. At Khan Academy, we offer several tutorials that require no prior programming experience.
- Typing: keyboard-based coding (ages 10+).
- Drag-and-drop: block-based coding for students with less typing experience and students on tablet devices (ages 8+).
Hour of Webpages: Learn to make your own webpages using the basics of HTML and CSS (ages 10+).
Hour of Databases: Learn the fundamentals of databases using SQL to create tables, insert data into them, and do basic querying (ages 12+).
I'd love your help in encouraging the next generation to become the creators of technology, not just the consumers of it. Plan your Hour of Code today!

P.S. We think it's awesome when parents and kids can find the time to go through the tutorials together—you could both earn the badge! Plan your Hour of Code on Khan Academy.
