Happy Hanukkah!

To the Roosevelt community,

On behalf of the Board of Education and administration, I share this letter with great joy and appreciation as we approach the start of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah on Thursday, December 7. This memorable holiday holds significant meaning for many across Long Island, and I invite all in our Roosevelt family to join me in wishing our Jewish friends a happy and healthy holiday.

Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a time for reflection, gratitude, and unity. It commemorates the miracle that occurred in ancient times when a small amount of oil miraculously lasted eight days in the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. It serves as a reminder of resilience, hope, and the power of faith.

Let us use this opportunity to further embrace diversity and foster understanding among one another. Our commitment to cultivating an inclusive environment where all cultures and faiths are respected and celebrated is unwavering. By celebrating Hanukkah alongside other holidays observed during this season, we strengthen the bonds that unite us.

To our students and families who observe the holiday, I want you to know that your contributions are valued and cherished. I extend my warmest wishes for a joyful celebration filled with love, laughter, and meaningful moments shared with loved ones.

May the lighting of the menorah bring warmth to your homes and a sense of togetherness with your loved ones and may the spirit of Hanukkah inspire moments of joy, unity, and goodwill for all.

Wishing all who celebrate a blessed and joyous Hanukkah.
