Happy Thanksgiving

To our Roosevelt family:

On behalf of the Board of Education, as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and extend warm wishes to each member of the Roosevelt Union Free School District community. It's easy to overlook the simple joys that grace our lives during our daily routines. Yet, Thanksgiving provides us a respite and the time to appreciate the true extent of the blessings we are continuously graced with.

Thanksgiving also provides us with the chance to reflect on the positive impact we have on one another's lives. It is a time to honor the strength of our community bonds and the collective achievements we have accomplished throughout the year. Furthermore, as we gather around Thanksgiving tables, let us remember to extend our gratitude beyond the confines of our immediate circles. Reach out to those who may feel isolated or forgotten, and offer them a warm embrace and a listening ear.

Within the Roosevelt School District walls, we witness firsthand the power of gratitude. Our students, with their infectious enthusiasm and unwavering curiosity, embody the spirit of thankfulness. It is truly remarkable to witness our scholars express their appreciation for their teachers and classmates and the knowledge they acquire daily. I encourage us to make gratitude the cornerstone of our interactions year-round, not just during the holiday season. Express your appreciation to those who impact your life, whether it is a cashier with a warm smile, a neighbor who lends a helping hand, or a friend who offers unyielding support. Let us all go that extra mile to recognize and celebrate the positive contributions of those around us. These simple acts of gratitude can transform our communities, fostering a spirit of unity and compassion.

May your Thanksgiving be filled with joy, warmth, and the company of loved ones. Thank you for your continued commitment to our students' success and our community's well-being.

I wish you all a healthy and happy Thanksgiving!

With a heart full of gratitude,

Dr. Deborah L. Wortham, Superintendent of Schools
